UFMP Toolkit Web site - under construction

This version of the UFMP Toolkit is still under development. To make this resource as useful as possible, we are soliciting input from potential users as to the types of information and online tools that are most useful. Where possible, the UFMP toolkit provides links to existing online resources to avoid unnecessary duplication, although some example material is quoted here for ease of access (and to avoid broken links that develop over time when linked web sites are reorganized). If you know of especially useful examples or resources that would be appropriate to include, please contact us. We are also seeking examples of complete urban forest management plans that can be featured on the UFMP Toolkit site.

Note: User input blocks and options to save materials have not yet been activated and are shown only as placeholders..

Note: This draft web site has been tested primarily with the Firefox web browser. The final version will be tested on most common browsers. If you encounter problems viewing the site with your browser, please contact us, indicating the nature of the problem, your browser version and page(s) where problems were noted.

This version is a rough draft. Pages vary in their completeness and in the amount of editing they have received..

Project development

In 2008, the Inland Empire Urban Forest Council (IEUFC) was awarded an educational grant from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) to prepare and implement an online resource known as the Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP) Toolkit. Due to California's ongoing budget crises, work on the project was suspended in December 2008.This project was resumed July 20, 2009.

Phytosphere Research principals Elizabeth Bernhardt and Ted Swiecki are the primary developers of the web site content. Comments, questions, and suggestions for links and examples can be emailed to them at phytosphere@phytosphere.com. Nancy Hughes of the California Urban Forests Council (www.caufc.org) is administering this project for the IEUFC, and the UFMP Toolkit web site will be hosted as a part of the www.caufc.org web site The IEUFC Steering Committee is providing overall direction and review of the project. Members of the Steering Committee are Andy Trotter, Dave Rogers, Fred Roth, Deborah Day, Mark Porter, and Susan Sims.

Artenergy is developing the web interface for the Toolkit.

User input to the UFMP Toolkit

Surveys

At the start of this project in October 2008, we developed a brief online survey to help assess the status of various management plan elements currently in use and to help direct the development of the UFMP Toolkit. We collected data from this survey through December 1, 2008.

Results from this initial survey can be seen by following this link. Thanks to all who participated in this initial survey.

Quick follow-up survey - We used a short follow up survey to to find out how users would prefer to be able to access and utilize the tools available at the web site. Results from this follow up survey can be seen by following this link. Thanks to all who participated in the follow up survey.
